Audio questions - Grado headphones, remote control switches

OK, so I was too lazy to do separate threads for these.

First of all. Grado SR-series headphones. Has anyone been brave enough to walk outside with one of these? What kind of reaction didi you get?

Secondly, I bought a new CD deck, and was dismayed to find it didn't have a remote power off. Could I use one of those remote controlled electricity sockets on the CD player and the amp it's on (400w rated for the amp itself) - i.e. is there anything from the switching, maybe a spike, that could damage the equipment?

HAHAHAHA by walk outside with these I assume you mean because of how they look? I've got the SR-60s and there are THE BEST headphones I've ever had. I don't think they're all THAT bad to have walking around. I use them and don't get too many looks
