I have a friend who is a DJ, he wants to be able to record from his mixer to a CD. What would be the best way to do this without noticably losing quality? A stand-alone CD burner? Or recording it to his computer, then editing and burning it?

If he should record it to his computer, what would be the best way to get it on there? I think his mixer has an optical output, but are there any sound cards that have optical in? What software would you use to record it?

Any help would be appreciated.

If he has optical outs, he can get it into a sound card or a stand alone CD recorder.

I'd say the deciding factor is if he wants to edit it later or not. If he does, then have it go into a computer, if not, then a stand alone CD recorder will be easier to deal with and and he can record his live shows as well while on the road without having to carry around a computer.
