Audio question

hi,

I have an X-Fi running on Win XP Pro 32-bit and using the latest drivers.
I'm using a set of Logitech X-530 5.1 speakers.

I have some questions regarding surround sound and CMSS and EAX and their use in games, movies, music.

I find that when I watch a DVD or play games that utilize surround sound, the center channel ignores Windows' volume control. Sound still emits from the center even if Windows master volume is all the way down. However, if I mute the master sound, the center channel mutes too. What's up with that?

Additionally, I would like to use EAX in the games I play. I just got the game The Witcher. If EAX is disabled in the game's audio setup menu, the audio comes out in 5.1, which again, ignores Windows' volume controls (I have to use the speaker's physical volume dial to change the volume). However, if EAX is enabled, the game's audio only comes out in 2.1.

What's the deal with that? How can I have EAX enhancements and surround sound both?

i don't have such issues, make sure you have set up your speaker count in creative audio console
