Audio problems

Hey technological geniuses, I have an audio problem. My MP3s will skip randomly and sound choppy. My setup:

Windows Media Player 10 with a 20 second buffer set up

HP DV1000 1.83GHz Pentium M
768MB DDR

It happens randomly unfortunately so it is hard for me to pinpoint a source of the problem. It happens sometimes when I move the touchpad very fast, or scroll up/down on a webpage real fast.

My system properties looks odd to me. It lists the Intel Pentium M 1.86, but the next line down reads:

1.32GHz, 760 MB of RAM

So I went to device manager to check out the processor, this caused more choppiness, but the proc is listed as a 1.86.

Im confused as all hell, my first reaction would be a lack of memory, but 760mb just listening to MP3s and browsing the web.

😕

Appreciate the reply. I trid to update all the drivers using XP's update driver feature. I will go directly to the manufacture's site to see if I can get better ones. Thanks for the tip.
