I?m new to building computers although not new to computers. I have the P4C800 Deluxe mobo and cannot get the onboard sound to work. I can take the cables from this machine and plug them into my old machine and I have sound. But when I transfer the cables back to my new system I cannot get any sound. I?ve gone into the device manager and loaded all of the drivers. Everything is working. And yes I did check to make sure the Mute was turned off. I even loaded the SoundMax that comes with the mobo. I use this to configure my speakers and it tells me that I have successfully configured my speakers but when I run the test I can?t hear anything. This build has been simple until this small problem. I bought the mobo from Newegg and the box wasn?t sealed and either was the bag the mobo came in. So, I don?t know if something?s wrong with the mobo or what? Thanks for the help. Oh, and I took the Creative Audio PCI card out of my other machine and put it in the new machine but still no sound. And my device manager says it?s working properly???? That tells me that it?s probably not the mobo?? I really don't know.
