Hi Everyone,

I'm having some problems with my sound card. I have a Sound Blaster Live sound card. I'm running Windows XP Professional. I have Altec Lansing speakers; 4 sats and a sub. Here is the first problem. I like to play music while I'm playing games. Simple games like cards. The sound will pause once in a while. I have used the windows driver and I downloaded the correct drivers from Sound Blasters website. No change. So I've been living with it. Its annoying!!! I'm also using Windows Media for playback. Now here is the second problem. I used to use Music Jukebox to play my mp3s. But I noticed only 2 of the 4 speakers were playing. I used Media Jukebox but its the same thing. Only Windows Media works with all 4 speakers. I'm stumped?!?!?!? Can Anyone Help

Thanks

With regards to Jukebox not using all your speakers: depending on the format of audio out your software uses, that will determine the number of speakers that get used. Errr... Jukebox (it seems) is using Stereo output instead of 4.1 output, while Windows Media player is using 4.1 output. Look in the options of jukebox (I don't know Jukebox well enough to tell you more) and see if you can find the Audio Out format, or if you can put in somewhere the number of speakers you have. You need to use a different audio codec than the one being used currently.

As for your sound pausing - Try using different playback software - I personally love winamp 2.81 (I hate 3.0). It could also be that your processor is just not very good and that the music and other background programs (antivirus programs tend to interfere with everything) is causing the hiccups. Maybe its the card games that you are playing? Definitely make sure you are using the latest Creative Labs drivers NOT the ones from Windows Update, the ones directly from Creative's site. Windows Update will try to get you to download a different version but DO NOT DO IT - those drivers suck. Good luck

I had the same problem and don't remember solving it!!...Real Jukebox only used 2.1 and windows media player used 4.1....this happened when I bought Windows XP Home over a year ago....I couldn't get along with it at all.....I have now gone back to XP, Professional this time and it works fine (Service Pack 1)....I am using an SB Live Player 5.1 this time not an SB Live Value like I was before....

I think you need to try the windows XP default drivers, the windows update ones and the latest Liveware ones to see if one of them work....
