I built a computer last week and installed the audio drivers yesterday. Everything worked fine with headphones and then sound completely stopped coming out.
The sound still works when I have the audio driver utility open and select setup parameters and test them (e.g., stereo, surround 5.1, etc.), but there is no sound output from windows software or the internet. It was all working, then it all stopped.
I'm running a DFI Lanparty board w/ Realtek HD audio drivers.
I hate to bring this up because I don't want to make this even more convoluted, but I tried connecting the computer to a stereo with a Y-cable (one computer out, and RCA right/left jacks on the stereo) and I got a big feedback signal on the stereo, unplugged it immediately. The computer audio continued working after this but went dead later on. And like I said, the system setup testing still produces sound on the headphones.
Weird, huh? It's irking me.
