A. You're not seeing the cable connector pulled loose.
B. The cable connector is pulled loose.

Make sure the mini jack is pushed in all the way.

Get rid of the non working speaker and move the working one in the middle of your desk? ;)

Meaning, those sweet speakers deserve a dedicated sound card.

Just to be 100% sure it's the onboard sound, try plugging the speakers into a CD player or MP3 player or something and make sure both speaker work.

Nine times out of ten this problem (when it occurs with onboard sound) is due to the mini plug not being inserted all the way into the jack. Sometimes the backplate is a few mm away from the jack causing the plug not to go in all the way.

I would think that too, except it sounds like he didn't change that at all. Certainly could have gotten bumped though.

it's starting to frustrate me :( i tried unplugging and plugging it back in. still no luck.. and i also tried it on my laptop, and it worked, so the speakers are good. i guess untill i find the solution, i'll do what ms dawn suggested.. put the speaker in the middle :)
