I want to play music from my computer in the office, but have my receiver in my living room doing the output. Yes, I know I can run wires back and forth or run them in the attic, but I want to do it with wireless. Is that possible?

I believe you can run a wireless transmitter, but the remote speakers would actually be powered by the wireless transmitter set's receiver, not your central receiver.

So no way to do it to a receiver? Only to wireless speakers?

Er, I'm a bit confused on the situation. Do you want to transmit music from your computer in the office to your receiver in the living room?

Yes, you can.

Get a wireless music station that has a line-out capability. Make sure you song files are shared on your home network.

It's then as simple as pointing the wireless music station to your music share on your office PC.

EDIT:

What you are looking for is something like this.

here

The "WHAT" tab has good recommendations. I've also heard a lot of good things about the Sonos system, if that's what you're looking for.

EDIT: oh, and the squeezebox is pretty good too.

Squeezebox!

The Squeezebox is what you're looking for--it's one of my favorite electronic gadgets. It can pull music off your computer's HDD or from any internet radio station via a wireless internet connection.
