Audio out on DVD and headphone

I have a new system consisting of:

Abit KX7 133 raid
XP2100
ATI 8500DV video card
Soundblaster Audigy Platinum
Pioneer DVD
Plextor CD/RW

My problem is that the video card (which does the DVD decoding) will either output analog audio to the sound card or Dolby Digital audio to my home stereo -- not both at the same time. I need to have both at the same time. I thought it would be easy to set the video card to decode and output the Dolby Digital, and then get the analog for the sound card, straight from the analog out of DVD player. But I can't get any audio out of the DVD player (not even the headphone out on the front of the DVD player).

So I thought I would try an audio CD in the DVD player and in my Plextor CD/RW and the headphone jack won't work on either of them!! Also when playing a audio CD, in either player, I went to the the Soundblaster "Mixer" and muted each input and found that the sound was coming from the Wave input, not the CD or Aux input (which is where the audio out connectors are connected to each player).

Any ideas why the analog, digital, and headphone jacks are not putting out any signal??? Is there a setting I am missing that would fix this???

Thanks!!!

Make sure that your DVD-ROM drive is connected internally into your sound card. That is a common thing that people overlook.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I have the audio cable connected. I have the CD-RW connected to the AUX input, the DVD connnected to the CD input, and also the DVD connected via the digital input. So I have the DVD connected with two cables to two inputs.

I did find that in the DVD player properties in the device manager, the "enable digital CD audio for this CD-ROM device" was checked. When I unchecked it, the headphone jack on the DVD player will work with an audio CD, *IF* I use the software player that came with the video card. It still does not work if I use the software player that came with the CD-RW or windows Media player. And when playing a DVD, it still does not output sound out of any output (rear analog or digital output, or headphone in front).

Any other ideas???
