Audio missing?

I have an asrock 939dual-sata2 motherboard, which includes an 8 ch audio solution.. which I guess is manufactured by realtek (ac97).

Uptil now I've been using a pci-soundcard. It is, however, causing my pc to shut down, so I have disabled it and now I want to use the onboard card.

But - I can't find the onboard card anywhere.. it's not listed in device manager (not even with a red cross), and nothing happens when I install the newest AC97 drivers. What to do?

You have to go into BIOS to configure onboard sound. If you were using a PCI soundcard, then your onboard sound was disabled presumably. Go into BIOS and turn it back on.
