I just got Max Payne 2 and I am having some sound trouble. I can't hear a lot of sounds. Like when Max should be talking he doesnt make noise and also, the guns when I fire make little to no noise. Any ideas?
thanks,

I also have general sound problems. SOmetimes voices are very quiet... but the biggest problem is, some cutscenes voiceovers are somewhat staticy. I can understand them, but it sounds like ass.

A patch is needed. IGN mentioned problems with both Audigy 2 and Live 5.1 sound cards. Nice QA work there, Rockstar. Didn't you think to test it with something other than an AudioPCI?:|

I fixed mine by disabling multichannel sound. It's noted in the manual that you should only enable it if you have a 5.1 system or greater, a center channel is required.

Yeah. Disable 5.1 sound, and possibly also disable EAX. That should get spoken voices audible again.

For me all backrond voices and most voices I talk to in normal play are high pitched and go very fast. Almost imposible to understand and read even with subtitles. I have the same problem with UT2K3 and Unreal II if I enable 3D hardware acceleration. With software everything is fine. Anyboudy know of a way to fix this problem in general or is there a way to dissable hardware acceleration.

I also sometimes do not have audio that I should be having. Sometimes I replay a scene a few times and get different results dew to the audio heard.

The strangest problem I have is that sometimes the cut scenes do not play at all and sometimes they play, but pause when they reach the next page rquiring a stop and play to resume the playback. And sometimes it works fine. Also if I get were I can play the cut scenes, I can go back and play scenes that would not play earlier so I don't think it is file courruptin.

Anybody else notice these bugs and know how to fix them?

Thanks

Yeah i had minor sound problems. I, too, thought it was my sound card. I have a chaintech 5.1 sound card, using 2.1 speakers. For the most part it was fine, but every once and a while the volume would go down for a few seconds. Also, during heavy fighting, sometimes i would get crackling.

As for the ending, I thought it was pretty easy. The only hard part is getting up that damn handicap ramp without getting wasted.
