Audio Issue w/ my iPhone

I have a strange issue with the headphone output on my iPhone.

I have had my phone for about 6 months so now and since I bought it I've been using a set of Shure in-ear headphones with no issue.

Last Friday I went to listen to my iPhone, but I was unable to hear parts of the music; the vocals are very faint. I figured the headphones were worn out as I've gone thru a few pairs of various headphones over the past few years.

But I plugged my headphones into my computer and they sounded perfectly clear. So then I figured it had to be my iPhone. But when I got home I plugged in a different set of headphones and they worked just fine on my iPhone.

So now it seems like the combo of my iPhone and Shure headphones that have worked for a while now just stopped work.

Any ideas?

The only thing I can think of is a symptom that happens when I plug in my Sennheiser HD555's into my iPhone. If it's not plugged in alllll the way, I get that above symptom. I imagine it's something funny about the Shure plug and not seating correctly into the headphone jack of the iphone. Do you have a case on the iPhone or anything else that might interfere with the headphone jack? Also, try and use a headphone extension cable if you have one lying around and see if that clears up the problem.

I will make sure it's in all the way, but I don't think I'm doing anything differently from how I've always used them in the past.

I wonder if there is some lint or something at the bottom of the socket preventing proper depth.

UPDATE: Pushed harder, seems better now...

If there is lint in the headphone jack, you can take it to the Apple Store, and they have a special nozzle they use to clean it for free.
