After Win 10 updated for me yesterday it screwed up my audio. Well I thought I would uninstall my drivers and reinstall them. When I rebooted after uninstalling I saw Windows automatically start installing drivers which I know had been disabled before. I went to the system settings only to see that option no longer exists.

This is what could be done before yesterday. http://winsupersite.com/windows-10/stop-automatic-driver-updates-windows-10

Now the ONLY thing there is to download the apps or icons and with no option to not get the drivers.

Oh and it also screwed up my Nvidia drivers and reset everything to default even for all the game profiles. So is Windows going to take complete control of my pc now?

Closing this since Toyota has chosen to be a jerk to those offering assistance.

I still get the option, it just looks a bit different in the latest build. Do you have something like this?

If that doesn't work for you (and you may have to re-install drivers after making the change), you might want to use the media creation tool and do a fresh install.

what you have there is NOT the same thing. that was always there before but was an additional option to the automatic driver install. so AGAIN the ability to turn off automatic driver installation has been removed.

The setting in the screenshot will stop the OS itself from getting drivers when you connect new hardware and it should help with your problem. Windows Update still will serve you drivers however...so just don't scan.

Ketchup was trying to help you. No need to be hostile.

sigh, you are both WRONG. did you even read a darn thing I said? that setting has NOTHING to do with the drivers. AGAIN that setting you two are looking at was always there before and is NOT what I am talking about. look at the link again and you will see what was removed.

Seriously, lose the hostility.

I've got the latest update. I have it set to no "install manufacturer apps" - I took a USB Wireless card and plugged it in - I know Windows has no built in drivers for it. No driver. Allow it to scan online....driver.

then seriously stop saying nonsense. please get through your head that what you are showing is not about the drivers. for the third time that setting you are referring to was there before and the actual automatic driver installation setting has been removed.

mods can can go ahead and lock this as I am sure all I will get is another ignorant reply.
