Audio input and Midi Mixer

Anyone know of a program preferably free or very cheap that takes a MIDI input, generates a sound internally and mixes that with the microphone input so that can be passed through to an external program like Skype?

Basically I'm trying to figure out a way for a friend and I to play duets online. She has a keyboard with MIDI and TS out and I'm using a Mic for a flute. I think we have a few options. She could buy an external sound card with two mic inputs so one can be used for mic and the other keyboard. But then how to mix these so Skype sees one audio input? Or she just buys a midi to usb cable and uses her computer's built in mic and mix these for Skype to use. Any ideas?
