I am using the on board audio in my Epox 8dra and when I install the unified drivers for the nforce mobos, I never get the audio control panel that you see on Nvidia's website and come with the drivers.

http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=nf_audio_01 (screenshots of the utility that I am referring too.)

I first install the lastest version from their site, once I realize the control panel was not there I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers that come with the CD for the mobo. Still in audio control panel, I then installed the lastest version again, and of course no audio control panel.

I cant seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong or why I dont get this option...

Here are my specs

Windows XP SP 1 (installed the SP 1 before I installed the audio drivers)
Epox 8dra
XP 2500+
pc2700 corsair
Maxtor 60 GB ATA 133, Maxtor 30 GB ATA 66
Onboard Nforce Sound
3Com Fast Ethernet Card
Geforce 4 4600

Nothing is overclocked, the CPU interface is set to Aggressive timings.

Anyone else having this issue or know what to do to resolve it?

Unfortunately you bought the 8RDA and not the 8RDA+ masterosok. The 8RDA does not come with the MCP2-T south bridge chip therefore it doesn't have the nForce2 APU. That is why you do not have the nForce2 control panel.

The 8RDA+ has the MCP2-T south bridge chip and thus the nForce2 APU. This is one of the defining differences between the 8RDA and the 8RDA+.

If you really want the nForce2 APU, return the 8RDA and buy the 8RDA+.

Your onboard audio is based purely on the realtek chip on the motherboard. The sound is decent at best.

The onboard audio of the 8RDA+ is based on the MCP2-T south bridge chip and it uses the realtek chip only as the I/O controller. The realtek chip doesn't do any audio processing on the 8RDA+. The sound is very high quality.

That kinda sux, as the documentation on Epox's website doesnt really indicated that the sound was different...

I thought the main difference between the two was the Firewire on the 8dra+

I like the board and need to get a better sound card anyway but I would have probably got the 8dra+ if I had know the sound was better to tide me over until I can afford an Audigy 2.... My Game Theather XP just died on me!!!!!! ERRRRRRRRR

Thanks for the info..
