Audio control malfunction

Okay, well I went to burn an audio CD using Nero (Version 7) (with WAVs, god knows Nero is horrid at transcoding MP3->WAV), and when I got to the point of burning it... Nero just froze up. It didn't even stard burning or anything. I just kind of shrugged it off.. I've had Nero mess up once or twice in the past, and it's kind of annoying, but that's why you have two burners ^_^.

So, I tried to burn it again and it locked up my other drive as well. Well, that was the final straw for Nero, so I uninstalled that hunk of Junk and installed CDBurnerXP Pro in it's place. Well, here's where the problems started.. kind of. CDBurnerXP Pro at least burned my CD right, but right after I restarted after uninstalling Nero, my sound control vanished.

By vanished, I mean that the sound volume tray icon is gone and all keyboard control is non-existant. Now, before you say, "OGM YOU NOOB!!! CHECK TEH BOX IN SOUND SETTING!!!", I already checked it and it was checked. I tried unchecking it, hitting apply, then checking it and hitting apply, but it didn't do anything. I uninstalled the device drivers and installed new drivers from RealTek (I have a DFI LanParty UT NF4 Ultra-D with an ALC850). But even after that restart, I still have no sound control.

Has anyone seen an issue like this before? It's kind of annoying having to fiddle around to adjust sound (especially when using headphones ~_~).
