Hmmm, I'm a little confiused about the cord/wire that connects from my dvd drive to my new SB Audigy 2. Sorry, I don't recall the names of the two types of connecting wires. But the new one I connected is much thinner than the old one I had connecting to my sb live. I believe this is a digital connector, but when I enable digital on my sound card and on the dvd drive I get no sound!? If I unclick the digital options everything is alright. That's okay I guess. My question is this. Without enabling digital, am I better off using my current connector (the one I think is digital), or should I connect up the larger wire connector, similar to the SB live set up I used to have?

Does this make sense to anyone? Wish I had the names of these wires, then it might be clearer. Any help would be appreciated.

Probably the digital option on your sound card is for the digital SPDIF connector at the back of the card itself. You attach a cable from it to an external receiver/processor that can decode Dolby Digital/DTS sound material.

The digital connector is the thin one. It is supposed to provide clearer sound. It has a separate volume control in the Creative Mixer called 'CD Digital' (or something like that). Make sure it isn't muted.

Thanks crudas I'll check my cd volume control. This is obviously different than the enable digital check box right? And thanks RanDum 72 the SPDIF connector term sounds right.

Yeah, 'enable digital' sends the CD audio over the PCI bus to the sound card for processing. It's different than the 'Digital out' that you have from the back of your DVD drive.
