Audio cable for SATA DVD/CD?

I am begining a new build, mATX, and I am considering several SATA DVD/CD burners/recorders. I have no experience with these and when I view pictures of the rear connections I seen no place for an audio cable. No audio cable appears to be included in the retail boxes. Is there no need for audio cable in the SATS interface ?

Correct. Audio cables on DVD/CD drives are obsolete and no longer used. Check this thread:

Correct. Audio data are being read like normal data, and then digitally rendered by the sound engine.

Even with IDE based CD/DVD drives, you no long need the audio cable. It's been that way since Windows 2000 I believe.

It's been that way since IDE drives learned to do digital audio extraction properly ... which was around the 24x era.
