I have a very long road trip coming up and so I am looking for audio books to purchase online. I went to B&N and their prices were a bit too high. What online sites would you suggest? I figure if I purchase online and d/l and burn onto my own media it will probably be cheaper.

Also, sometime ago someone posted a link where you could download a ton of literary works for free. There were some audio books included. Anyone have the thread link?

torrent spy's selection seems small and they don't have the type of book I am looking for. also, Amazon links to audible whose prices are equally outrageous. they use a very low price to attract first time buyers . I signed up with them a while back and cancelled

Audible.com is the best place out there IMO, I'm signed up with them and couldn't be happier.

Just stop at a Cracker Barrel or TA Truckstop or probably just about any other chain of truckstops and rent one... lot cheaper, and you'd probably never listen to it twice anyway

Edit: Or if it's feasible to get them at the library and then get them returned before the due date (mail them back to someone when you get there?), that's free. NYPL offers free audiobook downloads now too... if you're eligible for a NYPL card. Otherwise it's $100 for a year membership.
