Need some help on buying audio attenuators.
Here is my problem. I like to watch my local football teams on tv. Both pro and college. Same with college basketball, etc. BUT! I do not like to listen to the tv commentators. I turn the tv sound down and listen to the local fm radio station. The announcers on the radio side are fantastic!!!
The down side is many times the radio broadcast audio is lagging the tv video. Meaning you see the play on the tv and a few seconds later the radio announcer will describe the play.
To take care of the problem I bought a Pyle fm tuner. http://www.pyleaudio.com/sku/PT504/Rack-Mount-AmFm-Digital-Tuner-WAuto-Start-Feature (didn't pay that price for it.) The tuner pulls in the fm station. Then, I bought a digital audio delay unit. http://www.motron.com/product_info.php/products_id/133
The output of the tuner goes into the delay unit and the output of the delay unit goes into my audio receiver. The audio delay of the unit is adjustable.
The problem is that it appears that the audio output of the tuner is too high and over driving the delay unit causing distortion. The people who built the delay unit suggested using a attenuator to cut the level down between the tuner and delay unit. I have found attenuators in 3 db and larger sizes. I want to buy a variable attenuator because I want to be able to "fine tune" the level.
I'm looking for suggestions, ideas, comments and so on.
Thanks
