Audio adapter questions

Ok, so i'm making a ghetto boom mic for my camcorder.

My Canon Optura 20 takes in stereo 1/8th jack. My microphone is in mono 1/8th jack

Here is the stuff I plan to get,

20' Gold-Plated Headphone Extension Cord

Stereo Phone Adapter

So the extension cord connects to the camroder and runs into the boom, inside the boom will be a female 1/4th stereo jack. With that adapter, it will convert mono mic in 1/8th to stereo in 1/4th. Anyone see anything wrong with this setup?

Why would you get the stereo adapter? Just get the extension.

EDIT: Nevermind. I didn't read the bit about what the setup with your mic is.

NutBucket, because the mic is mono, if you plug mono stuff into stereo jack, it dosen't work out so well. Since stereo plug has three contacts, L, R, Ground and mono has one channel and ground. The ground contact of the mono mic will be in contact with the middle contact of the stereo jack (which isn't ground)
