Audigy2ZS notebook and Sager 5720

I've been having some difficulty with my Creative Audigy2ZS PCMIA card working in my new Sager 5720. I used the same card in my last laptop with no trouble at all so I'm pretty sure the card is good.

The problem is during games there is a lot of static and high pitched distortion sounds coming through the Audigy2 card that gradually increases the longer a game is played. The problem occurs with or without EAX enabled but is more pronounced with EAX especially when simulating sound in enclosed environments.

The sound seems normal when using the card to listen to videos or MP3s in WMP, Winamp, or iTunes.

I've tried several different drivers from Creative including the latest beta drivers. I've installed, uninstalled, used nothing but the bare drivers with no additional creative apps. I've disabled the on board audio on the laptop (something I didn't need to do on my previous laptop). I've even reformatted the hard drive and performed a complete reinstall of Windows with step by step testing to be certain the problem is isolated to the Creative sound card or it's drivers.

I've tested the card in more than one EAX enabled game with the same results.

I've searched the Internet for anyone who has had similar problems with Audigy2ZS cards and haven't learned anything.

Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Oh yeah, this Sager 5720 is awesome in just about everything else and the on board sound is not too bad even without the Audigy card but I would like to get the EAX effects in games since I have the card.

If you go into surround mixer and turn the treble up, you will hear alot of static and pops with MP3 play and CD Audio... These cards just plain suck. I was told it was just my Averatec C-3500, but the same thing occurs with my L25-S1993 too.... And this is the third unit I've tried, so it wasn't just a defective card....

I have an Audigy2ZS PCMIA card also.
I use it with my I9200, I've never had a problem. (gamming, or music)
I've never had any problems with it.
Sounds like some kind of conflict??
What's running around in the back ground?

I wonder if it is a heat problem? The fact that you've done absolutely everything you can in software suggests that it isn't a trivial driver issue, and the "happens only in games, particularly with intensive DSP stuff, gets worse as time goes on" sounds kinda thermal. If you pop it out after it has been acting up for a while, how hot is the casing?

The heat theory sounds plausible but I never had this problem with it before, this laptop doesn't run hotter than the previous one. The card itself doesn't feel warm.

One thing I noticed is that the drivers for my PCMCIA hardware are generic Microsoft drivers dated from 2001. It is a Texas Instruments PCIxx21 Cardbus Controller listed in the device manager but when I try to install specific updated drivers it still says the driver provider is Microsoft and the driver is dated July 2001. This seems very strange. Tried updating it with several driver downloads including from other laptop brands that use the same controller for PCMCIA but I'm unable to update the driver, even manually won't work. I think I need to contact Sager on this.
