Audigy2 & Win98SE?

Guys,

I'm getting ready to do one more system upgrade w/ Win98SE as the OS, before MS pulls support in June. Please, no flames re 98SE vs. XP. I plan to go to XP eventually, but MS needs to fix the issue w/ multiple OE accounts b4 I take the plunge. Besides, my 98SE installs are stable and address my needs.

I'm considering an Audigy2 card, to replace my aging SBLive MP3+ card. Are there any issues w/ the Audigy2 card and software install (namely vxd) under 98SE?

TIA,

Jeff

IIRC, the Audigy 2 has WDM drivers only, no VXD. Which should be OK since Win98SE supports WDM.

An Audigy 1 works perfectly fine in Win98SE from my own experience.

Andy, thanks for the reply. According to the photos Newegg shows for the Audigy 2 there is a method of installing vxd drivers under Win98SE. So, one of the two ways should work!

Jeff

Yup. I checked the Creative Newsgroups a little while ago.

You can select installation of VXD or WDM drivers in the drivers installation program.

I used a Diamond Monster MX300 from '99 until the day the Hercules Game Theater XP came out. Ran it under '98 and ME. I tell ya, there was nothing at the time better than Half-Life with an Audigy 2.

RIP Aureal....and damn Creative to hell.
