I was thinking of using a VGA Box, my vid card doesnt have TV in, just TV out.
Or,
Use a "35 TV, my dads old one that i`ll be getting in january. It has ProLogic built in and 4.1 surround. SWEET.

I`ve just read you sig.
My Quality Computer, as good as its gonna get when built by a 17-year old
Thats a pretty good rig for a 17yr old. Im 17 as well, and your specs pretty similar to mine.
But you have a DDR system, where as mines SDR.
A 21" for someone our age isn`t nout to be sniffed at.

from your pictures it looks like you have an LCD monitor?

If thats the case and youve got surround sound on your pc, id buy a fairly cheap tv card PCI device and tap that flatpanel...

you have a very nice system as well :)
You could do some pretty decent overclocking there. is that 1800+ a Tbred or Palo?
Im gonna buy the Barton 2500+ soon, maybe when it hits the $115 area or so...

I see you're an ATi fan, eh?

Every time I see a little more news on NV35 (or.. Geforce FX 3000 I guess we could say now..) it looks more and more tempting.

As soon as we get an official release date for Doom III, I'm upgrading my video card. Guessing it will hit shelves in Nov. or so (too far away :() the NV35 will have been around a while and dropped in price, plus the NV40 will be on its way...

You should look into a DDR upgrade if your mobo will support it. With AMD systems, DDR is primo..

Yes i do have a TFT, it took me the best part of a year to save up for the TFT and the 9700pro. And i dont regret it a bit, the best upgrade ive ever done.

I have no idea if its a tbred or a paly. I think its a paly, cos tbreds arnt suppost to work on KT7A mobos, then again, XPs arnt ment to work anyway. lol
It OC`s quite well, it`ll do XP1900 fine, and XP2000, but not as stably, im going to volt mod the mobo soon, so i can give it a bit more juice. Im sure if i had a better mobo, then it`d OC far further.

The 9700pro, is the first ATI card that ive owned.
I used to have a GF3Ti200 OC`d to Ti500, and before that a GF2GTS, and before that a GF2MX, and before that a S3 Savage4, and before that a Matrox Mystique G200.

IMO, the nV35 is just going to be a nV30 with a 256bit memory bus. Makes sence really. With a more bandwidth the chip can stretch its legs a bit.

My mobo dont do DDR, just SDR, i`m thinking of upgrading in the summer, when i get a bit on money, check out this thread:-

Forgot, i have the Doom3 alpha, and my system runs it pretty well.
Im sure if you were to get a 9700/9800 card, then it`d do doom3 justice, the alpha isnt optimised yet.

If your XP is hitting 1900+ and 2000+ then its likely a Palo..

My 1800+ TbredA is running around 1830mhz, 215fsb*8.5

I would recommend that you get an Nforce2 motherboard. I paid $180 for my Chaintech 7NJS and the board is EXCELLENT, with a TON of extras, and they just released a BIOS that allows FSB to be set higher than 200mhz, but apparently im one of the few who are able to do so (no voltmods either...)

As far as RAM, Id say that if you can, try to get 3200 or 3500, it will open up a bigger window of overclocking...
If I ever got a 400mhz Barton using the 3200 Corsair I have now, I couldnt OC it much further...
3500 will be key at that point

And yes, all the NV30 really needed was the 256-bit bus that the NV35 is getting, and its going to haul some ass!
Makes me proud of Nvidia for waking up and realizing that they made a teeny tiny mistake..

My friend and I went around the internet like crazy as soon as the D3 alpha got leaked, and we found it after countless sleepless hours of hard work, too bad that now its all over Kazaa for the newbies...
Runs great here, but there ARE rough spots.
And of course I told myself every time I saw '0 FPS' that the game was completely unoptimized, and Im basically running raw code.

Although I want something that will push my Ti4200 before I ditch it for an FX3000. My lil Leadtek overclocked to 320/590 has run wonderfully, but I want to utilize it for something good...

The thing thats holding my CPU back is the mobo, its common knowledge between KT7A mobo owners, that you`d be very lucky to hit over 140mhz fsb. 145 is needed for XP2000. With a new mobo, im sure i could get higher.

Im going for PC2700, its cheaper, i can get more (around a gig), and i can set the mobo to lock the mem/agp/pci speeds. I`d consider PC3200, if AMD chips used 400mhz fsb quite commonly come the end of summer, but as it stands, PC2700, is all thats needed to run it in sync. Plus the PC2700 memory that i should be getting, OC`s very well, the shop that im buying from, said it`ll hit 450mhz without breaking a sweat.

I was thinking of a Asustek A7N8X Deluxe. Ive had Asustek before, a A7V, i had to replace it with a KT7A though, i asked my dad to take the HSF off while i went the bog, he ended up ripping the socket off the board!!! I wasnt complaining though, he offered to replace the board, so i got a better board, good for me. lol

3200 RAM now costs the same as what 2700 did 2 months ago. We got some crazy price drops...

Corsair 3200 512mb can now be had for slightly over $100, whereas I shelled out $170 for mine...
that stuff is quality... it just FEELS nice!

You WANT to run the mem in sync anyway, im sure you already know the performance is much better when the bus of the ram matches that of the proc..

and with Nforce2 you can not only LOCK the AGP/PCI, you can also OVERCLOCK it ;)
(you can bet im up to no good there...)

A lot of people like the Asus Nforce2 board, but i think its kind of bland, and it doesnt come with anything extra...
Plus I can hit higher FSBs with MY board. And all that time they thought they had the top claim....
