Audigy X-gamer and AMD mobo's: ARe there compatability issues?

Ok, I have my Audigy X-gamer coming next week, and I'll be building a new system. But I'm worried cause it will be an AMD proc, and I've heard that the Audigy lineup is having problems (compatability issues) with the AMD motherboards!! Especially with the VIA chipset. Is this true? What should I do? How can I get around this?

P.S. Since I have heard of this problem I was thinking of going P4, rambus route? Should I?

No problems here. The issue with the SBLive has been known, but I haven't seen any definitive cases of this occuring with the Audigy.

OK, cause I've read some issues were the Audigy line up and the VIA chipset are having problems together!

Let me get this straight. You will buy a P4 with Rambus memory just because you heard that SB Audigy doesn't work with Via? Wouldn't it be much easier and cheaper to buy Santa Cruz or Phillips Acoustic Edge, both of which rival or even beat the Audigy? Personally, I have Shuttle AK31A (VIA mobo) with SB Audigy OEM and it's a great setup that I don't have any problems with whatsoever.

I like the Audigy lineup, plus the card will be at my house within a day or two (ordered from Mwave). And NO I don't feel like sending the card back!!!

Sorry, Tecumseh. That's pretty sad. Is the soundcard so important to you as to pay more for an equivalently-performing P4 setup?

Using SB Audigy here in my Epox 8KHA+(VIA kt266a) no problems here 🙂,btw I use it a lot for gaming both online and offline 🙂.

I think it's hit or miss with it. I read one of the first reviews of the Audigy line, and they said the snaps and pops were still there. Maybe they've got it ironed out now, I most likly won't ever trust Creative again, especially with better cards out there.

No problems here and I haven't heard of anyone with a problem with that combo. The only problem I've had with my Gamer is the known Volume control issue(driver bug).

The Audigy is a good sound card, but IMO it's not good enough to build a computer around. If problem persists, ditch card.
