Audigy X-fi + Logitech Z-5500 + Optical = :(

I've been using the analog connections up until today when i decided to get a optical cable, the logitech website said to disable the onboard decoder by setting the soundcard utility to "SPDIF Bypass", i did that and set the output to digital

however, when i did that, the z-5500 came up blank and said that there was no digital data... anyone know a work around? thanks

Did you disabled from bios or actually physical board?
or OS?

It only says that for me when there's no music playing.

disabled it from the software, i was playing AC3 encoded movies and or music at the while i was trying to get it to work
