Here's my situation. I'm getting a new computer very soon, and I originally planned to get the Game Theater XP sound card. I can't find it anywhere locally, and I don't want to wait until it's in stock where I'm buying stuff, so I've decided to settle with a different card. Right now, I'm looking at 2 choices. One is to get an Audigy, and the other is to rip the SBlive out of my old computer. Right now I'm wondering if the Audigy is really worth spending $70-100 on. I'm planning to use the Z-560 speakers with this new rig.

Thanks.

I second the TB Santa Cruz like amdskip said...

I got one for $50 (after rebate) last weekend and am very satisfied.

Quite simply...the Versajack rocks!

well if i would have to chose... I would stick with the Live. There isn't a lot of differences in sound between the two cards and unless your using the livedrive... there really is no point.

Creative has released updated WDM drivers for the Live in the last 3 months I believe, so your fine. Also it saves ya money. You can spend the $50 on lowering noise or what not (well... thats what I would do :))

The Audigy has better drivers, features and sound quality (from what I understand). The SB128 PCI supposedly has better sound quality than the Live! and there is a clear difference between the SB128 PCI (the card I had before) and the Audigy IME.

yes get the tbsc
the audigy is really starting to annoy me
it's skipping on mp3s
and i am really looking into turtle beach santa cruz which is more engineered for music
the audigy is more for gaming so it depends on what you plan on doing
also the audigy 2 is coming out... so the audigy 1 should start to drop in price
if you can get the game theater xp online, it's nice and convenient to have the break out box; although you would have 2 with the z560s, which rock!
also creative is known to have very crappy drivers
specs-wise i don't know if turtle beach is planning to counter with a new sound card cuz it has been quite awhile santa cruz came out...
good luck deciding

Hmm, I can get the GTXP for $170 at compusmart.com, the only reliable place I know that offers afforable shipping in Canada - free.

$40 more than ncix.com, though... =/
