Audigy sound cards and connecting it to the front case ports...

The one thing I like about my Audigy 2 platinum front box is that it automatically mutes my speakers when I connect headphones to it. I want to be able to have that same functionality but when I connect the card to the ports in my case? Is this possible? I know of X-Tap which makes the connection possible but looks like this feature will not work. Are there any other options?

If the X-Tap solution is the same that I am familiar with, it should work. If not, there is a work
around. If I can find the link again, I will post it.
