Audigy platinum vs. Audigy OEM.. worth the extra $?

I see that the Audigy platinum card is like more than double the cost of the Audigy OEM card. What exactly extra can you get with the platinum that you don't get with the OEM? Can you justify the high price?

The Platinum has a bunch more software as well as the Livedrive to connect a lot of things into your soundcard. Get the Platinum if you are into recording and mixing music from varied mediums. The extra connections and software will help you out a lot.

tdas2, I know in particular that the OEM card has just basically the card and drivers, but I wanted to know about the quality. If the quality of the Retail is so much better or if you just get the extras like the live drive and games and a pretty box. I am just getting sick of paying like twice as much for something when the sound is the main part but it's no better than just the bare card.

I have a SB Live Retail and I think I paid more than it's worth way back when. I could have received the "value" one, which was like an OEM then too which basically just didn't have the daughter i/o card.

What do most people have? Retail or OEM for sound cards? Is it worth the extra money to you to buy the Retail?

I didn't notice a difference between the Audigy retail and Audigy OEM. On the card, there really isn't much a difference, unless ur talking about the Audigy Platinum and the OEM. The OEM card is based on the MP3+ and X-Gamer.

I think they're the same card, so they sound the same. Go OEM because you'll be getting just the card and drivers; no junkware that you'll never use, and no overpriced Live! Drive. (Is it still called Live! drive if these cards aren't SBLives?)
