Kay..

I just got this system running for 2 hours and after searching on the net. I couldn't get any single idea on how to install Audigy on Linux. Anyone?

Note: I just tried linux for the 1st time so i don't really know how to operate this thing. Step by Step would be useful.

Thanks.

You're wanting to include sound blaster support in your kernel. I'm kinda a newb myself and although I could figure out how to do this I don't think I can give you a step by step.

It CAN be done though :)

But the Audigy uses a different chip than the Live series - and I don't think the new driver is incorporated into the kernel yet. Could be wrong, though. The ALSA drivers page claims they support the Audigy, but they're not easy to setup in RH. If ALSA is the only choice, you might want to leave the sound for the moment and concentrate on other things.

Red Hat's 7.3 release did not properly support the audigy, it requires compiling the audigy drivers AFTER you have compiled a new kernel that does not have emu10k1 support -- basically compile the kernel with sound support but under the supported sound options uncheck emu10k1

After the kernel is compiled and you've verified you can boot off it you want the drivers from here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/emu10k1

Easiest way after compiling the drivers is to reboot the system and red hat will take care of the rest for you.

Creative also has an open source page here: http://opensource.creative.com/ with a link to the driver.

Note: this problem is resolved in red hat 8.0
