I have an Audigy II Platinum, and I?m hooking it up to JVC amp. My amp has optical inputs, but no coax or analog surround inputs. Apparently the optical out on the soundcard does not do full Dolby Digital encoding. In other words, I only get PCM left and right to my amp in WinXP and EAX games such as UT2003. Playing a DVD with PowerDVD I can get the full 5.1. I hear this soundcard will output Dolby Digital through the analog outputs in the back of the card, but my amp has no analog inputs. Has anyone else got this problem? Any suggestions? Is there a cheap box that could convert the analog outputs to optical that I could install between my soundcard and amp, or am I looking at purchasing a new amp?
