Right now I have a audigy hooked up to my DD5.1 receiver, with a digital PCM connection, which also carries the DD5.1 signal if I'm playing a DVD.
Since I'm in a rather small space, I dont need a center speaker, but I'd still like rears. However, without DD encoding on the audigy, this wouldnt be possible over the digital connection.
My question is, is it feasible to connect the fronts and DD5.1 over the digital connections, but also using the 6 dedicated inputs on my receiver, to use a splitter for direct analog inputs for the fronts and rears? Could I get the audigy to output both signals at once, that way I can just switch modes by pressing a button on my receiver?
I'd like to keep the digital connection no matter what, for simplicity, DD5.1, and just plain sound quality's sake while listening to music. I'm sure my receiver has a much better DAC than the audigy.
Has anyone else pulled this off?
