wow in 7 months it died; im not saying its not impossible but ive been around sound blaster cards and they are strong. think about it, could an audigy card die out because you plugged a mic in at the same time you are running winamp? its got to be something else. the mic is optional and has no relation to winamp = the last time i used winamp was a long time ago. I say with everything as is right now, uninstall all the creative software and drivers, then before restarting the pc, uninstall the hardware, remove it from device manager. after you have everything removed, turn off the pc and pull the card out. try in another pci slot and reinstall. Is the card being recognized by your OS and in your os?

clear the CMOS while the power is off too.
this should work ~ all creative sound card "crash" like this and its the only way to get them going again.

I got it working! Thanks islandtechengineers. All I needed to do was remount it to another slot. I think the slot is defective, but I don't have the money to replace it and the mobo warranty expired.
