Audigy bass distortion

Ever since I installed the Audigy, the bass distortion on mp3 playback is getting worse. Anyone know how to fix it?

At first, when I installed it, it was fine, but usually after BSODs, my Audigy settings suddenly reset themselves like my EAX presets change and 4 speakers settings reverts to default 2 speakers settings. This is followed by bass distortion in playing back mp3s with lots of bass in which EAX settings like Pop, Rock, Techno would distort the words to unrecognizable sounds.

Bass Distortion, how loud do you have it? The only way I know is to turn the volume down, you could also try adjusting the bass level controls as well.I actually have the same motherboard and card as you and never had that problem.

It could be your speakers so try it on a different pair, other things like maybe clean install of Audigy drivers might help.

Bass distortion can be caused by many things.

At initial install, it used to be fine, but it gets worse with time and I haven't messed with the bass level. It's at 50% default level. Do find my reducing the db of the EAX settings, it helps lower bass distortion, but it doesn't sound quite as good. It's not my speakers because it works fine when I turn off EAX.

I don't have any SB cards in any of my systems but EAX shouldn?t have any bearing on music playback should it?
