Audigy and Promise Controller

I just installed an Audigy in my system and everything at first appeared to be surprisingly okay, until I noticed that on the POST screen at startup, the hard drives connected to my onboard Promise ATA100 controller now show PIO 4 rather than UDMA4 for my 2 ATA66 drives and UDMA2 for my one ATA33 drive; all 3 drives were changed to PIO 4. I pulled out the Audigy and everything went back to normal. I tried the Audigy in every other PCI slot and the same problem occurs.

Any ideas? I've read thru the posts about problems with Via and SB cards including Audigy, but haven't run across mention of this problem. Everything else so far seems stable.
