its understandable why there in no 9900. every time they release a new gen of cards, they go up a thousand. ie 7000 series, 8000 series, 9000 series. they could have called it the 10,000 series but smartly choose x800

the audigy, on the other hand, just skipped the three for no apparent reason

Why do the specs make it seem like it's exactly the same thing as the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum, but with a different looking Live Drive. Same remote and everything else.

Winamp skipped version 4 due to it being a bad number in Japan I think.

Maybe it doesn't internally resample like the Audigy 2 ZS's. 😕

I did notice however that the SNR and/or DR has increased by +5 dB over the Audigy 2 ZS. IIRC the Audigy 2 ZS's DAC had an SNR and/or DR of 114 dB even though the card was advertised @ 108 dB (probably to account for limitations caused by other components, noise, etc.). So a increase in +5 could infer a different DAC and/or better components & circuitry being used.

The reason they skipped four was because it was a bad number in one culture. the 2+3 thing is just the explanation they gave everybody else.
