Looks to be very expensive for the full package. (~$299).

I thought i read somewhere that the number 4 means the devil in japanese? Why not call it 5 or 3, like arctic silver did?

I wonder if it still uses the old EMU chip that emulates 24bit sound. It would be nice for them to include a really good chip for the pro series.

Same hardware, new name? I couldn't see anything that stood out as really different, spec-wise, from the A2ZS.

No "Dolby Live" (realtime DD encoding) like Intel's proposed upcoming solution, I noticed.

Could Creative's recent announcement been held back in the wings for some time now, and just waiting to counter whatever their potential competitor's (Intel, in this case) announcement was, in an attempt to steal their thunder? Do they think that customers will simply forget about Intel now, and rush to the stores to buy the "latest and greatest" several-year-old hardware from Creative? Is this pure PR and marchitecture in action?

Not really sure why people are expecting miracle sweeping improvements in sound cards when there really isn't much left to do. It looks like Creative has tried to fix some of the problems people complained about with the current cards, at least that was my impression trying to wade through the eyeball scratching babelfish translation. There is no longer SPDIF resampling to 48kHz. They also mention being able to bypass windows kernal mixer. The Pro version also adds 5.1 analog input which won't mean much to most, but is a unique feature among consumer cards that some can definitely benefit from.

My favorite babelfish translation:

"it is possible, as for the listener to reproduce the ?? leprosy rich appearance impression,"

Reproducing leprosy? That's definitely got to be a first for a sound card. And you naysayers think Creative doesn't innovate in the market...

4 in both chinese (si, downward tone for the number) and japanese (shi) sounds like death

4 is basically equivalent to the American 13. It's viewed as bad luck, but the Japanese tend to be a bit more paranoid and superstitious about it.

Yes 4 is pronounced like death in Japanese. That card doesn't look any different from the Audigy 2 ZS:(

Who really expects anything from Creative these days? Anything they release has no innovation or creativity whatsoever, same old crap. Can't blame them for trying, audio advancements aren't exactly very significant compared to graphics.

It'd be really good if it doesn't have to resample all audio to 48Hz unlike the audigy2.
