So I just got the Audigy 2Z and installed the hardware then the drivers when I finally plugged my headphones in all I can really hear is mostly static and the noise is barely audible in the back round. I'm hoping its just the drivers which I need to update becasue currently I can't connect that computer to the internet but that really doesn't make that much sense.

I'd definitely update to the latest beta audigy drivers, but it sounds like a problem on the analog side, not the digital one, which is all drivers should impact. Sounds like what you get when you plug heaphones in halfway to me, which could be a loose connection, either to the heaphones or between the jack and the card.

Do you have them plugged in the right port? Do you have digital audio enabled instead of analog?

Were those digital heaphones or all analog sets like normal headphones are?

Yeah nothing seems to work. I'm going to try and call audigy tomorrow but I think I get more help here then I usually do on tech support lines.

Digital audio should be DISABLED unless you have digital speakers. I don't know of a single pair of digital headphones. It should be set like *this*.

Did you try several outputs on the back of the card. I don't think the A2 zs outputs are color coded so I can't tell you which color to plug into.

I'm sure you've tried this already, but try

Output device to headphones
Digital output disabled
Make sure nothing is muted in the sound control panel or your music playing program
play some music
then plug your headphones into each output jack one at a time to see if you can get anything to come out

Yeah I've tried every jack with and with out digital output on. The best I can do is get a tone of static and muisc in the back round when I plug my headphones( or speakers) into digital out

Make sure you're plugging the headphones into this port (unless your Audigy is the version with fewer ports, in which case this image is useless): Mine

With headphones plugged into that port and digital output disabled as above, you should hear clear audio. If not, do you have another sound card to try?

Edit: I see you've already tried every port...at least you can be sure which one is supposed to work.

Have you tried different sources too?

Maybe the program you're using isn't playing sound right?

Try playing a game or something else if you haven't already... or even playing the basic windows sounds.

Is it constant static?
