Audigy 2

I have both. The audigy kicks the crap out of the av-710. The chaintech card absolutely NO features.

Go with the audigy 2. Its just as good as the ZS imo.

Most likely candidates are MX5021 or Promedia 2.1 (both 2.1)

I might also get the z-5300, but that's not likely.

Yoyoyo you should know the answer to that by now... music silly! Well, sound quality first.

Well, what exactly are the differences? I can get the OEM for the same price as a AV-710 in the FSFT forum.

Audigies have some issues with music. Nothing major, but they have to resample due to the way they are designed. It's not a big deal, but the Chaintech is going to have more accurate output for sound, especially if you use the rear wolfsen jack for the output.

If you get a 5.1 set though, you'd probably be better off with an A2 card with its higher EAX blah blah blah.

The non-ZS I believe is a 6.1 capable card whereas the ZS was a slight upgrade to 7.1.

Also the ZS brought around "bitperfect SPDIF output" for the first time in audigy cards. In other words, it doesn't resample 44.1khz to 48khz for digital passthrough, but ONLY if you enable it.
