I've finished building my new computer, and it's my first computer with a soundcard in it, an Audigy 2 ZS. Anyway, I put in the driver CD to install drivers, and there are 50 different applications! Naturally I got confused, as I have never owned a soundcard before. Anyway, I'm keeping this computer fairly minimal on the extras as I'm a gamer- I don't want unneccessary bloat slowning down games and lengthening boot times. I don't have surround sound, but I will probably want to watch DVD's on it at some point. I just have headphones. I'm not interested in using Creative's software to create my own audio files, as I have a few fast and small alternatives. Anyway, I want to get the max quality out of my soundcard for the smallest amount of programs bogging down my gaming performance. Can anyone help me here? Thanks.

creative does indeed introduce bloat but i'm not sure if you can really prevent it - most of it comes from the drivers themselves, while it installs a lot of apps i don't think any of them run in the background. good luck!
