Audigy 2 ZS Platinum won't auto-switch mode with headphone in

I use a set of 5.1 speakers, stereo headphones and Audigy 2 ZS platinum.

Not sure if this is a software or a hardware design issue. Whenever I plug the headphone to the front IO panel, it turns off the 5.1 speakers, but does not switch audio setting to headphones (from 5.1). I have to switch it manually everytime from Creative Audio Console. I'm wondering if there's a way around it?

:went on Creative forum earlier, seems like xi-fi plantium does auto-switch speakers mode. didn't find related topics on audigy2zs.

I have tried the same thing, but no luck. Do you have the latest drivers? I do, but haven't looked to dee if they fixed the problem, and it will be a while before I get back home. I kindofsortof solved the problem by starting to use a USB headset, since it is recognized as a separate device, and Windows switches it to stereo.
