Need being the key word. To me it seems that the EAX effects come from the sound tweaking the software does. I'm almost convinced that I don't get optimal sound performance in games like Battlefield 2 without doing a full install. I would like just to install driver only. Is the magic in these great cards 1/2 software and 1/2 hardware? Can someone shed some light on this?
