Audigy 2 ZS - can't set device for MIDI and Voice playback

In Sound and Audio Devices properties panel, default devices for MIDI music playback (under Audio tab) and Voice playback (under Voice tab) are always blank. I can set them to 'SB Audigy 2 ZS Audio [BC00], but they'll reset to blank after I exit the properties panel and come back. So far, I've already tried reinstalling the Audigy2 drivers.

effect from this is that I can't hear any audio from Youtube or google video, as well as error msg in Skype etc...

DX9 Games, BF2, HL2..., on other hand play fine.

i fixed this piece of ******

basically you know how you can set windows to have sounds or no sounds well it was set to blank as if it was a custom profile for the sounds so i switched it to no sounds and it works

i had the exact same problem and i fixed it myself hope this works for you man

In order to play MIDI, you have to select a synthesizer in Audio. You should have a Creative choice and a Microsoft GS wavetable choice.
