I just the the Audigy 2 and I got the speakers setup as 4.1. I got the music play well. The problem is when playing games. I tried Hitman 2, Madden 2004, and others. Each of them does not play the background music or intro movies, no sound at all. According to Hitman 2 web support, there's a problem with the EAX CL software and the game. So I have to turn the sound directX down to standard or lower to hear the music. This means the EAX is not used. So what's the point of having the Audigy 2 if you cannot used its main feature of EAX? I am using directx 9b.
So I got to soundblaster website and they said that there's a software conflict b/w the games and its drivers. So turn off the EAX feature and the music will play. So why have the Audigy 2 if you cannot use its feature? This is suck.
I upgraded from the Santa Cruz and never had trouble like the Audigy 2, matter of facts, I can turn on the EAX feature on any games too.

Anyone have an answer for this problem.
Thanks for your help.

Dunno what you're talking about. The Hitman2 sounds just fine to me with my A2 whether using my CL 5300 5.1 or my present Klipsch 4.1. Same for all my other games (including a few EA sports titles).

thats cuz the soundtrack is on the CD like a regular audio CD, but when it's copied it doesnt land in the exact same place, so it doesnt play, sometimes if you open the CD tray while the games runnign it will start back up.

sorry if that dont help Bad_Dude, you know man, you are really Bad, Dude

Have you tried opening up the EAX console and selecting Enable audio effects/Special FX/EAX Games normal effects, and then minimize or close that application? I usually minimize it so I can turn the music back on to normal in the Advanced EQ part of the EAX console.

No the games are not copied. But I used the hack for the CD check b/c I don't like the pauses during game play when it checks for the CD. I bought Hitman 2 a long while ago, while Madden 2004 I just bought recently for $30.
So no they are not copies, as I am only play a few games. So I buy Madden every year.

Thanks for the effort but I don't think that was the reason. I had the game playing fine with the Santa Cruz without the CDs in them. So when I got the Audigy 2, it happens to me. So I uninstalled the games and reinstalled with the Audigy 2 already in place. Still did not do anything. But if I put the sound acceleration to standard then it plays fine but no EAX.

Thanks.

I should give that a tried. However, with some one's advice I just install the drivers now only.
I will reinstall it and see if that would solve the problem.

I'm pretty sure my suggestion should work for you since that's what I have to do or I don't get full EAX effects on my rig.
