Audigy 2 Value

Currently using the onboard audio on my Intel 975X board.. Not all too happy with the outcome.

Wanting to do some recording using some recording software with my guitar and was wondering if an Audigy 2 Value would work out better?
Or would there be another viable solution; such as an M-Audio solution?

Thanks!
Joe

Are you using mics or is it an electric guitar you are connecting directly? In either case do you have the necessary preamps or would you want them on the soundcard?

No; I currently do not have any sort of preamps.
I was under the impression that a guitar could be directly connected to the Line In; I am aware that the sound won't come close to the real thing, as if connected to my regular amp.
I just wanted to dabble around with some recording, so I could critique my playing, since I'm a beginning guitarist. No professional recording equipment will be needed; at least not yet 🙂
