I just formatted both my hard drives, and took with it the software for my audigy 2 card I'd downloaded a while back. So I took a look at the creative site and all they have are updates...? The driver installed fine but all the applications they offer would error on an install, saying the components needed weren't found.

So what do I need to download for the creative mixer, speaker settings, etc. programs to work?

You'll need to install the drivers from your driver CD first, then update with whatever you've downloaded.

Yeah I know.. fvcking stupid idea.

If you go here and select sound blaster, audigy 2, audigy 2 you will find the first driver listed has the following requirements:

Microsoft® Windows XP SP1, Windows 2000 SP3, Windows Millennium Edition or Windows 98 Second Edition.

Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 or Audigy 2 ZS series audio card (with or without previous drivers and updates installed).

So give this driver a try.

This should be a direct link to the download page

Yes I already have that, but it comes with no software, just the driver. That means I can't select how many speakers I have, or use the volume controls, etc.

download the update for the software that you want. It is a self-extracting achive. Open it with winzip or winrar. there should be two setup .exe in the archive. Do not use the one at the root of the file, but the one in the folder. For example, in the surround mixer software, there is a webintaller.exe that will detect whether you have intalled a previous version of the software. If you use the setup.exe in the Surmix2 folder, it will not. Therefore, you will be able to install the whole piece of software, not just the update. Run this setup.exe, and it will install. Hope this helps. If there is not 2 .exe's, just run the one and it may work.

With the driver installed and the mixer extracted using the only setup.exe in that archive:

Setup did not detect the required components.
Setup will now exit.

This. But none of the other Audigy 2 software works either, including the MediaSource installer/setup.

There is a torrent out there for the CD. Look at the usual places.
