Audigy 2 - No Digital Playback for DVD's!?

I was reading an article about the Audigy 2 platinum in the December Issue of PC Magazine and found out some disappointing news. According to the article, this new sound card will only play DVD's in analogue and all the recording functions are disabled (sorry-no digital 6.1 DTS-EX DVD movies). Besides all this it is a good card.
I guess I will be keeping my Audigy x-gamer for a while longer until they come out with a sound card that will give you ALL DIGITAL playback.

I wonder why they bothered with SPDIF and optical out then. The only reason I'd buy an Audigy2 is so I can make use of the digital AC3 stream. There's got to be a way around that.
