It seems when I play games that use 5.1 sound that the sound will sometimes cut out, such as in Doom 3. I then have to run the console command to restart the sound, and everything is fine. I have uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled the latest one. The sound also cut out when I was playing the Men of Valor demo earlier today - and I don't believe that uses 5.1 sound, just regular surround. Any ideas what could be causing this? I thought it might be the heat inside my computer (When Men of Valor sound cut out, I checked the temp and it said 58C, which I know is very hot).
Here are my full specs:
Athlon 64 FX-53 (Socket 939)
Asus A8V Deluxe (K8T800 Pro chipset)
GeForce 6800 Ultra
Audigy 2 Platinum
Klipsch 5.1 Speakers
OCZ EB PC3700 RAM (1 GB)
Antec 480W TrueBlue Power Supply
If it is indeed a heat issue, anyone have a good recommendation of some way to cool this system enough to stop that. I have one fan in there right now (only room for on fan on the side of the case) but I guess it's not strong enough. I don't want anything too loud, but obviously it needs to do a better job than this fan.
Thanks!
