audigy 2 install probs

I can't get my drivers to install for audigy 2 oem. it'll either crash when trying to install the "creative audigy audio processor (WDM), or it'll say SB audigy no installed message. the first message occirs when i install via the CD. the latter message occurs when installing via the downloading drivers from the creative website.

i have tried taking all other cards out to avoid IRQ conflicts and i've checked my MB bios updates.

i have win98 se
athlon xp 2200+
epox-8k3a+
ati radeon 9500 pro
512 mb ddr.

please help. thanks.

You probably know this, but just in case: You need to leave the pci slot next to the agp slot clear (in most cases)... Did You try reseating the card?

Ja, and even if that is not the case then try another slot anyway.

I had the same problem last month and out of frustration just reformatted my drive. It worked, but it's hardly a great option. Hopefully you'll find a better way.

thanks all. i've figured out the problem. i isolated the problem to the WMD drivers. i had to install the VXD drivers, which i think are older. and i did shuffle the card all around my MB. anyways, all is well now. thanks!
